Floyd Crow organized the Spring Ride Through the Piney Woods of East Texas, which was held Sunday, April 23, 2006. Riders met at BMW of North Houston to receive a route map and directions and for a brief riders meeting. Thirteen bikes of varying makes and models arrived for the ride. Wheels rolled promptly at 9:00 AM, and Floyd set a leisurely pace over the hills and through the woods. The morning was cool and generally sunny, though fog rose off the Trinity River when the caravan crossed. Jasmine and other flowers permeated the green woods. The first stop was almost 2 hours later at the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation, then more riding. Lunch had been scheduled for 1 at the Cedar Tree Restaurant in Jasper, and despite being very crowded, the good folks there arranged for everyone to sit together. By the time lunch was over, the day had warmed up into the high 80's, letting everyone know that summer is getting close. The riders split up for the ride home. The total loop as originally mapped was just under 400 miles. Thanks, Floyd, for a great day in the Piney Woods.
